John Henry Stephens: Obituary

Mr. John Henry Stephens age 79 of Ellijay GA died at his residence Friday December 20th, 2019.

Mr. Stephens was born November 27th 1940 in Atlanta GA to the late Guice Henry Stephens and Mary Elizabeth Kennedy. He was a member of the Ellijay Church of Christ and worked in the grocery business for his entire life. He met and married the love of his life Tommie Ellen Howland Stephens, they were married for 60 years. They resided in Ellijay for the past 31 years. John never met a stranger and his hobby was spending time with his entire family whom he loved very much. He is preceded in death by his Grandchildren, Jeremy Carswell, Kennedy Cochran, and Logan Mulkey.

Survivors include: Wife; Tommie Stephens of the Home, Daughter; Lisa Carswell, Ellijay, Daughters and sons-in-law; Kelly and Jackie Cochran, Ellijay, Kim and Eddy Mulkey, Ellijay, Son and daughter-in-law; Chris and Emily Stephens, Canton, Brother; Charles (Cookie) Stephens, Alabama, 13 Grandchildren 4 Great Grandchildren several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 2:00 pm from the Ellijay Church of Christ with Minister Butch Jones officiating. Interment will be in the Yukon cemetery.

The family will meet with friends Sunday Dec.22nd from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.

The family will be accepting flowers or donations may be made to Compasses Hospice in memory of Mr. Stephens.
