Former Lumpkin County State Champion Head Coach David Dowse Named Gilmer Head Coach

The Gilmer High School Tip Off Club announced their new Head women’s Basketball coach Monday morning. David Dowse, the former Lumpkin County head coach who led the Lady Indians to a state championship in 2022, while pilot the ship for the Lady Cats going forward.

Coach Dowse comes to the GHS basketball program with many years of experience and success. With a 362-187 Career Record, 1 State Championship, 3 Final Fours,
2 Region Championships, 13 State Tournaments, 1 GHSA Coach of the Year, 1 AJC Coach of the Year, 1 FYNSports Area Coach of The Year, 20+ All-Region Players, 13 All-State Players,
3 Region Players of the Year, 1 State Player of the Year, 6 GACA All-Stars, and 4 BLITZ Players of the Year.
Gilmer went 8-16 last season and finished 6th in Region play.
