The Gilmer Bobcats stayed hot on Friday night, storming to a 42–20 win over Union County in Blairsville. The victory pushes Gilmer to 2–0 on the young season while Union County falls to 0–1.
First-Half Dominance
Gilmer wasted no time setting the tone, building a commanding 28–0 halftime lead behind a balanced offensive attack and a swarming defense. By the time Union County found its rhythm in the second half, the Bobcats had already slammed the door.
Standout Performers
#3 Bubba Callihan put on a defensive showcase with a pick-six, a fumble recovery, three tackles, and a sack. His playmaking helped the Bobcats seize control early.
AJ Callihan recorded a milestone moment, tossing his first-ever varsity touchdown pass, adding another weapon to Gilmer’s offensive arsenal.
Hunter Britain continued his strong start to the season, scoring again on Friday. He now has multiple touchdowns across the first two games, proving to be a consistent scoring threat.
Madden Hopkins added 94 rushing yards and two touchdowns, powering the ground game.
Cheyne Smith contributed 107 total yards and found the end zone, giving Gilmer balance and explosiveness offensively.
