As of 11:30am on January 13, 2026, the Ellijay-Gilmer County Water &
Sewerage Authority (Authority) is lifting the Boil Water Advisory that was
issued o n Sunday January 11, 2026. The Boil Water Advisory was issued due to
a power company contactor rupturing a 6 ” PVC water main while replacing a
power pole on Riverbottom Road i n Gilmer County. The Boil Water Advisory is
lifted for all areas of the Authority’s water distribution system.
Authority crews completed repair o f the water main and disinfection and flushing
procedures were performed with samples being taken t o a certified laboratory for
microbiological testing.
Microbiological test results were negative for total coliform bacteria, and the water
has been deemed to be safe for human consumption.
