Arrest in Connection with Two Burglaries

Sheriff Stacy Nicholson releases the following information, regarding an arrest in a burglary investigation:Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office detectives have made an arrest in connection with two burglaries of the Ellijay Mini Mart, formerly operated as Yukon Grocery. The burglaries occurred within a few nights of one another on March 3 and March 9.
Detective Coy Turner processed the crime scenes and collected evidence that had been left by the unknown suspects. Detective Dustin Dover led the investigation. The detectives developed several suspects before the focus was narrowed to Zachary Bettinson and an accomplice.
On March 22, 2011, Sheriff’s detectives obtained enough evidence to take arrest warrants for Bettinson, 21 of an Ellijay address . Bettinson, who was already incarcerated for an unrelated charge of aggravated assault, was served with warrants for burglary two counts, theft by taking two counts and criminal trespass. Bettinson remains in the Gilmer County Detention Center.
Detectives have also obtained arrest warrants for Willie Boyd, 23 of an Ellijay address. Boyd is currently being sought after by the Sheriff’s Office. Any information regarding Boyd’s location should be relayed to Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office C.I.D. at (706) 635-4646.
