Mrs. Ruth Thomas Logan, age 89, of the Tails Creek Community, Ellijay, Ga., passed from this life on Monday, May 30th, 2011 from her residence. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Mrs. Logan was born August 14th, 1921 to her late parents, William Joshua Thomas, Sr. and Willia Gertrude Griffen Thomas in Blue Ridge, Fannin County, Georgia. She was a housewife, a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who was an avid flower gardener with a “green thumb”. She is preceded in death by husband, James Roy Logan.

Survivors include: daughters and sons-in-law: Shirley L. and Johnny Russell of Ellijay, Ga., Margie L. and Richard Abernathy of Ellijay, Ga.; sons and daughter-in-law : Jim Logan of Ellijay, Ga., Jerry K. Logan of Ellijay, Ga., and Danny and Deborah Logan of Acworth, Ga.; five grandchildren: Melissa D. Waddell, Barry Abernathy, James L. Logan, Jr., Melanie Severs, Amy Logan; eight great-grandchildren: Melodie Waddell, Mason Waddell, Chassady Abernathy, Emma Abernathy, Noah Logan, Caleb Logan, Emily Severs, Audrey Severs; sisters: Dottie Thomas Boston of Florida, Betty Thomas Anderson of Blue Ridge, Ga., Sherry Mathis of Blue Ridge, Ga., Carole Thomas Lacy of Blue Ridge, Ga.; brothers: Jack Thomas of Florida, Bob Thomas of Ellijay, Ga., Eddie Thomas of Ellijay, Ga.; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 1st, 2011 at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Ruben Smith officiating. Music and song will be performed by Barry Abernathy and Lowell Davis. Interment services will follow in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Barry Abernathy, James L. Logan, Jr., Johnny Russell, Ronnie Evans, Billy Simmons, Richard Lacey, Jim Goss, Drew Anderson, Dennis Waddell, Brent Severs and Keith Anderson.

Family will receive friends beginning at 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at Logan Funeral Home and Chapel.
