East Ellijay custom motorcycle shop Flat Broke Customs took home six awards during Panama City’s Annual Thunder Beach Spring Motorcycle Rally scheduled May 1st – May 5th.
All together, their custom copper Shovelhead Bobber Chopper won Best IN Show at the Boardwalk on Thursday, May 3rd and the People’s Choice and First Place Custom Shovel Head at Ms Newby’s on Friday, May 4th. The bike also won the People’s Choice, Shriner’s Choice, and Best Bobber Chopper at the Best of the Beach show on Saturday, May 5th.

Flat Broke Customs spent 4 months working on the chopper and started it from a bear new frame.

“We built every bit of the bike right here in the shop with the exception of the seat and powder coat which of course we had to outsource,”

says Judd York owner of Flat Broke Customs.

The award winning bike has a hand tooled leather engraved seat made by Buttskinz located in Mulberry, Indiana, a wishbone Paughco frame, 80 ci shovelhead engine, 6 spd ULTIMA bdl open belt 3” transmission, dna springer, and 21 inch front and rear powder coated wheels. It also has real copper leaf on the gas tank.

“We even took the carburetor off and had it coppered,”

says York.

“We did some really neat stuff to this bike.”

“All of the hoses are real copper tubing too.”

says shop hand Brad Simmons.

Anyone interested in seeing the custom made bike can now see it on display at the Flat Broke Custom motorcycle shop located on 81 River St in East Ellijay across from Hardees. Flat Broke Customs is open Tuesday through Saturday.
