Bobcats Beat Bulldogs 2-1: Lady “Cats” Capture Win Against Cedartown

The Gilmer Lady Cats took on the Lady Bulldogs of Cedartown Wednesday evening, September 19, 2012 at 5pm. The Lady Cats were triumphant with a 2-1 win.The first inning started out with Cedartown leaving two on base and ended the top of the first with a groundout.
The bottom of the 1st resulted in three up and three down for the Lady “Cats.”
Cedartown drew first blood in the top of the second with a hit deep into the centerfield gap to get an RBI and put the Lady Bulldogs up 1-0. Cedartown ended the top of the 2nd with two groundouts.
The Bottom of the 2nd was much like the bottom of the 1st for the Gilmer Lady Cats.
Cedartown was able to steal a base on a Gilmer error but it never amounted to anything as they flied out to end the top of the 3rd.
Flowers, Waddell, and Deyton loaded the bases with Wright up to bat and Powell on deck to seemingly get the Lady Cats a run. They both struck out.
Marshall made a name for herself when she hit a two run blooper to right field to put her Gilmer squad up 2-1.
The Lady Bulldogs were having trouble getting on base, either hitting grounders or hitting balls in the outfield that seemed to always land in a Lady Cat glove.
In the top of the 6th, Cedartown looked to even the score, or go ahead. Vines was at bat for Cedartown and she hit a grounder to right field, she was out at first and the relay throw to 3rd base was on time as the Lady Cats got out of a sticky situation to end the top of the 6th.
The Lady Cats looked to score in the bottom of the 6th but could not capitalize. Cedartown hitters went three up and three down to end the game and secure a victory for Gilmer.
