Mrs. Mary Irene Carpenter age 89 of Ellijay, GA died Thursday May 16, 2013.

Mrs. Carpenter was born March 23, 1924 in Cleveland, GA to the late Richard Oscar and Zola Wishon Jones. She was a loan officer for the Bank of Hapeville. Mrs. Carpenter was a veteran serving in the Marines and of the Baptist Faith. She is preceded in death by husband, Jim Carpenter, son, Ken Carpenter, brothers, Ralph, Wade, and Wayne Jones, and sister, Clara Jones.

Survivors Include: Daughter: Marsha Carpenter, Ellijay; Son and Daughter in-law: Jim and Gayle Carpenter; 9 Grandchildren; 15 Great Grandchildren; Several Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins also survive.

Funeral Services will be held Sunday May 19th at 3pm from the Chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with Pastor Chad Kelly officiating. Interment will follow in the Ellijay City Cemetery.

Family will receive friends Sunday May 19th from 1pm until 3pm at the Bernhardt Funeral Home.
