Mr. Gene McClure age 66 of East Ellijay died Tuesday June 4, 2013.

Mr. McClure was born October 13, 1946 in Gilmer County to the late Rev. Ardell and Ethel Mae Fox McClure. He was a member of the East Ellijay City Council for 29 years, member of the Riverhill Baptist Church, a veteran serving with the US Army in Vietnam and operated McClure’s Scrap Metal Co. in East Ellijay for 40 years. He was married to the former Lugene Dills for 44 years and is preceded in death by his parents, brother Frank L. McClure, sister, Betty Jo McClure and brother-in-law, Dan Evans.

Survivors include Wife: Lugene McClure, of the home , Son and Daughter in-law: Mike & Niki McClure, East Ellijay, Sisters and Brothers in-law: Faye & William Stover, Linda McClure Evans, Eula Mae & Lloyd Chadwick, all of Ellijay, Step Mother; Jeanette McClure, East Ellijay, Sisters in-law and Brother in-law: Sybil Morrow, Ellijay, Joyce Plumley, Ellijay, Dorene Carringer, Chatsworth, GA, Don & Evelyn Poe, Dalton, GA, 3 Grandchildren, Trevor, Clay, and Jace McClure, all of East Ellijay several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Friday June 7, 2013 at 2:00pm from the chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with Rev. Russell Hood, Rev. Roy Scott, Rev. Michael Smith and Rev. Billy Cantrell officiating.

Interment will be in the East Ellijay Cemetery with military rites by the North Georgia Honor Guard.

The family will meet with friends Thursday from 12 noon until 9pm at the funeral home.
