Marvin Dwayne Masenthin, age 82, of Ellijay, passed Sunday, June 30th, 2013 from the Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Jasper, GA. Mr. Masenthin was born February 7th, 1931 in Lyndon, Kansas to his late parents, Walter James and Lydia Dorthea Poertner Masenthin. He graduated from St. Johns High School in Winfield, Kansas, then returned to the family farm in Lyndon to help his parents. He went on to work for DuPont in the quality control department, retiring after 30 years. Mr. Masenthin was a member of the Hope Lutheran Church of Ellijay and is preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Masenthin and sister, Dorothy Bishop.
Mr. Masenthin is survived by wife, Arnita Rose Boyer Masenthin of Ellijay, GA; Sons and daughter-in-law, Brian Masenthin of Cherry Log, GA and Gregg and Shellie Masenthin of Prarie Village, KS; Grandchildren, Greg, Chelsie, Carly, Matthew, Haley, Bryson, Austin, Carson, and Preston Masenthin; Brother and sister-in-law, Don and Jan Masenthin of Topeka, KS.
Funeral services will be held at 11AM Friday, July 5th, 2013 from the Hope Lutheran Church in Ellijay, GA with Pastor David Smedley officiating. Graveside interment will follow in the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gregg, Brian, Greg, Matthew, Bryson, Austin, Carson, and Preston Masenthin.
Family will receive friends from 2pm until 5pm Thursday, July 4th at the Logan Funeral Home.
