Gilmer Lady “Cats” 1-1 at Lanier Point Park

The Gilmer High School Lady Bobcats’ softball season began with a blast, as the Lady “Cats” lambasted Dunwoody 11-2, at Lanier Point Park, to open the season. Gilmer fell in its second game at Lanier Park, 9-6 to North Hall.Gilmer gave Dunwoody all that it could handle early and often, as the Lady “Cats” climbed to a 5-0 lead in the top of the first inning.

By the bottom of the third inning the lead ballooned to 8-0, eventually leading to an 11-2 “Mercy Rule” win, as the game was called after the fifth inning.

Gilmer’s game two, featured the Lady “Cats” leaping to an early 3-0 lead on North Hall in the bottom of the first.

North Hall tied the game in the top of the second; however a run scored in the bottom of the fourth gave Gilmer a one run lead.

North Hall added three more runs in the top of the third, to put the Lady Trojans up 6-4. Gilmer cut the lead by one in the bottom of the inning; however, the Lady Trojans added three runs in the top of the seventh, and Gilmer was able to only come up with one more run in the last at bat, securing the 9-6 victory for North Hall.

The Lady “Cats” will next play Lumpkin, at Lumpkin on Thursday, August 15th.
