The city of Ellijay held their monthly council meeting on Monday, August 19, 2013. With the approval of the agenda, minutes for the June meeting and the June financial statement complete, the meeting moved toward the public comment portion of the meeting. Owners of Mountain Treasures expressed a desire to have an ordinance created to allow them to sell boxed wine.

“We carry the brand line of products already. It would be for the welcome baskets we put together for the cabin rental companies and things along those lines”

they explained. The council did not make any decisions on the request. With no other public concerns, public commentary was closed and the meeting moved forward to new business.

New business included the review and approval of the Farm Winery Licenses of Mountain Treasures and The Laurel on River Street. A third and final action was the review and approval of reappointing Charlene Douglas to the Housing Authority.

“Her term expires in October”

said Mayor Hoyle.

“This term will not be effective until then”

he continued. All of the decisions made were done so with unanimous decisions.

With the close of new business, the board made a unanimous decision to enter into an executive session to discuss personnel.
