Hudson’s Prepares for Apple Fest

Business

With the 41st annual Apple Festival coming up very rapidly, FYN spoke with Hudson’s Apple House, located on Highway 52 East, to see what their plans were to prepare for the upcoming festival. According to Ruth Reece, owner of the 52 year old apple house, they simply try to have as many varieties as possible in stock and that they currently have ten different varieties.

“Our customer favorites include Gala, Golden Delicious, Mutsu, Fuji and Granny Smith”

Reece said. Hudson’s typically offers between ten and seventeen varieties throughout the apple season.

Reece’s apple house also offers cider, sorghum and honey.

Some interesting facts about this apple house is that they are no longer able to maintain their orchard but purchase apples from other agriculture apple farmers so they apples are very fresh when they arrive at the apple house. FYN received a half peck of Gala apples to sample and they were delicious!

If you’re looking for an old timey experience, Hudson’s is the place to go. They have maintained the building as it was many years ago when Reece’s Father operated it, right down to the old timey cash register.
