Family Storytime – Winter Visitors

Come find out who or what visits in the winter. Family story times are designed for families with children of all ages. These programs often feature stories, music, rhymes and a free craft activity. Children 9 and under must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Teacher’s Workday Movie – Winnie the Pooh
Monday, January 5 @ 2:00 PM
Ha-ha it’s a teacher’s workday so school is still out all day. Join us at the library to enjoy a free movie and popcorn.
Weekday Storytime – Roly-Poly Snowmen

Come and listen to Mrs. Judy as she tells the story of the Roly-Poly Snowmen. Right after the story, we always have craft time. All ages are welcome. Children under 9 require a responsible adult.
Lap-Sit Storytime – Snow

Lap-Sit storytime is a fun and personalized way to encourage early literacy by including books, songs, rhymes, and physical activity for ages 1 to 3 years with a participating adult.

If you are 12-18 years of age and want some say in the programs and books being offered by your library, we invite you to come join TAB, and share your input and ideas.

Adult Lunch and Learn Knitting & Crocheting
Wednesday, January 7 @ 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM
Bring your brown bag lunch, needles and yarn to the Gilmer County Library. Already know how to knit, come for the fun! If you are unable to attend a meeting, that’s ok. You don’t have to be at every class. If knitting, bring #8 needles and yarn of any color. If crocheting, bring G or H hooks and Peaches & Cream cotton yarn of any color.
The Monthly Movie

The January movie is Waste Land. Winner of numerous awards. Filmed over nearly three years, Waste Land follows renowned artist Vik Muniz as he journeys from his home base in Brooklyn to his native Brazil and the world’s largest garbage dump, Jardim Gramacho, located on the outskirts of Rio de Janeiro.
The Friends of the Library Bookshelf
Cabin fever settling in? Time to tidy up, clear out and fix up. This week the Bookshelf is featuring every sort of home repair, DIY, decorate, and organizing book you can imagine, all at our usual bargain prices.
If one of your resolutions is to read a few classics this year you may want to snap up the beautiful set of Great Books we have near the Bookshelf window. It comes with its own all-wood bookshelf and is a steal at $50.00
If you’re not already a Friend of the Gilmer County Library, please join us next time you come into the Bookshelf. Memberships start at only $10.00 and contribute to buying new books (including E-books) for the library’s collection. You’ll enjoy the monthly newsletter, special events, and will be the first to know about the collections we put out each week.
Bookshelf hours are from 10:30 AM-5:00 PM on weekdays and from 12:00 PM-2:00 PM on Saturdays.
