Opinion by George McClellan:The anarchist led anti-police confrontations and shootings, increasingly going on around the country right now, fomented under any and all pretexts, signals different intended out comes to different people or groups, on what constitutes law and order and who enforces it.

Of first concern for constitutionalists, is the alarming militarization of America’s police agencies. It is changing the dynamics of the people with its government at all levels. Constitutionalists see this program as a potential for arbitrary, unconstitutional police intrusion into American’s daily lives. Indeed that has already begun. Anarchists however, don’t want the police around at all interfering with their dope smoking activities, a la the 1960‘s. They want all policemen tried and jailed first before they can shoot any innocent black hoodlum law breaker resisting arrest.

Progressive government wants the police highly armed because it fears 2nd Amendment types who are, correctly, armed to the teeth and have shown their willingness to stand against intrusive government authority. The Bundy Ranch caper is the prime example of government pushing the limits of its assumed authority, lurking behind a militarized SWAT force but yielding to aroused armed citizens confronting them. The biggest fear for progressives is that the police might, in the end, turn on them which is a distinct possibility as we saw in NYC with officers there expressing their disgust for mayor de Blasio by turning their backs to him. If we no longer can depend on our police for protection from crime, especially black inflicted crime, under today’s atmosphere and instead we become fearful of the police simply because we don’t know how officers would react to a situation, then the glue of trust that binds civilized people together with its policemen, will be irrevocably damaged. Thereafter the connection with any policeman could be viewed in the context of dealing with Gestapo or KGB agents of years past, something to be avoided at all costs. We have not arrived at that stage yet but, I fear it’s coming on rather rapidly. Of course, the ultimate reaction for any threatened group is to resort to vigilantism. This is not a new phenomena! Our old west history is replete with such actions, but that usually degenerates into another unintended consequence, organized lawlessness.

Obama’s government is Americas biggest purveyor of racial divisions because the latent feelings of racism, once slumbering into dormancy, are being exploited to the Progressives advantage. The Ferguson, Mo. and NYC meddling by Holder and Obama, virtually ripped open the once healing divides between black and white and created new ones. Inadvertently, they have empowered the inner-city losers, like vigilantes, to independently try to punish the police.

Are we to accept what has been done to us just because it was done? Once destroyed, the confidence in our governmental functions, like law enforcement, cannot be easily regained. Is the animosity for armored-up law enforcement departments a catalyst for absolute power or is it proportionate to the contempt police feel for those they are bound to protect? At the moment the out of control and deadly environment in black urban communities are alone facing the brunt of the demands of a still barely functioning civil society who want law, order and social stability.

On the other hand, it’s maybe not a good sign that the NY police confronted mayor de Blasio so strongly. The need to ensure that police do not try to overcome local governments is as important as preventing anarchists and criminal gangs from taking control over the urban neighborhoods in which they dwell. One or the other has got to give. The problem is: how to identify the real bad guy’s! We can start with Sharpton, Jackson, Obama and Holder. Remember, freedom is the goal, the Constitution is the way. Now, go get ‘em. (28 Dec 2014)
