Lap-Sit story time is a fun and personalized way to encourage early literacy by including books, songs, rhymes, and physical activity for ages 1 to 3 years with a participating adult.

Legos are just cool. Join us for another meeting of the Gilmer County Library’s Lego Club. We provide the theme and the Legos. You provide the imagination. Bring your children to come have some fun and create something brilliant, and we will proudly display their creations.
Weekday Storytime – Big Bears

Come and listen to Mrs. Judy as she tells the story of the Big Bears. Right after the story, we always have craft time. All ages are welcome. Children under 9 require a responsible adult.

Join us as we watch the movie, The Perks of Being a Wallflower based on the book by Stephen Chbosky and then discuss the differences between the movie and the book – ages 12 years and up

Learn the basics or if you already know how to knit or crochet come work on a project with us – bring our own knitting needles or crochet hook and yarn. Ages 12 years and up.

Adult Lunch and Learn Knitting & Crocheting

Bring your brown bag lunch, needles and yarn to the Gilmer County Library. Already know how to knit, come for the fun! If you are unable to attend a meeting, that’s ok. You don’t have to be at every class. If knitting, bring #8 needles and yarn of any color. If crocheting, bring G or H hooks and Peaches & Cream cotton yarn of any color.
Basic Computer Skills

Do computers make you nervous? Are you not sure how to find webpages on the Internet? If you answered yes to these questions, this class is definitely for you. This free class usually fills up early so call the library to register.
The Friends of the Library Bookshelf
Cabin fever settling in? Time to tidy up, clear out and fix up. This week the Bookshelf is featuring every sort of home repair, DIY, decorate, and organizing book you can imagine, all at our usual bargain prices.
If one of your resolutions is to read a few classics this year you may want to snap up the beautiful set of Great Books we have near the Bookshelf window. It comes with its own all-wood bookshelf and is a steal at $50.00
If you’re not already a Friend of the Gilmer County Library, please join us next time you come into the Bookshelf. Memberships start at only $10.00 and contribute to buying new books (including E-books) for the library’s collection. You’ll enjoy the monthly newsletter, special events, and will be the first to know about the collections we put out each week.
Bookshelf hours are from 10:30 AM-5:00 PM on weekdays and from 12:00 PM-2:00 PM on Saturdays.
