Mrs. Frances Godfrey Burgess age 78 of Ellijay died Saturday May 16, 2015. Mrs. Burgess was born April 19, 1937 in Pickens County the daughter of the late Preston and Rosa Wheeler Godfrey. She was a homemaker and a member of the Old Damascus Church. She is preceded in death by parents, daughter; Loretta Lynn Burgess, granddaughter; Jessica Dana Ellis, brothers; Leon Truman, Randall and Kenneth Godfrey. Step-son; Robert Aaron Batten, great grandson; Curtis Ross.

Survivors include: Husband; Ralph Burgess, Sons and daughter-in-law: Nathan and Susan Burgess Jasper, Earl and Trish Burgess, Cherry log, Daughters and sons –in-law: Darlene and Danny Ellis, Mary Ellen Vick and Scotty Weaver all of Ellijay, Charlene and Ken Batten, Waleska, Brothers: Gene and Melvin Godfrey both of Ellijay, Bernard Godfrey, Jasper, sisters: Lois Wright, Edith Chastain both of Ellijay
14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren 6 step-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 5:00pm from the Flat Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Wallace Parks, Rev. Glen Arnold and Rev. Tommy Sanford officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

The family will meet with friends Sunday from 5 until 9pm at the funeral home.
