Travis Crouch

Commissioner Travis Crouch will speak about his recent hiking expeditions and give insights on local trails and hikes.
Magician Bill Packard
Friday, June 26th @ 11:30 AM & 1:30 PM
Bill Packard will perform not 1 but 2 shows for our guests on Friday the 26th. Each show is different and unique so you will not want to miss either one. Bill performs over 400 shows every year. Truly great entertainment for all ages.
Other celebration activities include: FOGL 2-Day Book Sale, Hot Dog Lunch provided by the Gilmer County Library Foundation and Food Lion, Live Music, and a Teen Movie at 3:00.
Children’s Programs
Children’s Storytime every Tuesday and Thursday in June @ 10:30. Seamless Summer free meals follow story time in June.
Luna the Tooth Fairy

Luna will show us her tricks and teach us the importance of eating right, taking care of ourselves, and having a sparking smile.
Police Chief Ed Lacey

Chief Lacey will be visiting as our SRP continues on. Chief Lacey will speak about police work and public safety.

Young Adult Programs
Would you like a chance to win a new GoPro White? Then come and participate in our Summer Reading Program. You do have to sign up and read some books to have a chance to win. A very big thank you goes out to the Friends of the Gilmer County Library for donating the prize.
Adult Programs
SRP is not just for kids. Adults are encouraged to also share in the fun of summer reading. We will give away several gift bags full of cool things at the conclusion of SRP. Call the library for full details.
Disney’s Ratatouille

We will show Disney’s Ratatouille as part of “A Taste of Summer” Reading Program presented by Dalton State College and the Gilmer County Extension Office.
Basic Computer Skills

Our Basic Computer Skills class is for anyone who needs help with some of the basics of using a computer. It is never too late for anyone to learn how to use a computer! Come in or call to register. An active library card is the only requirement and it only takes a few minutes to sign up.
Lunch and Learn Knitting & Crocheting
Wednesday, June 24 @ 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM
Bring your brown bag lunch, needles and yarn to the Gilmer County Library. Already know how to knit, come for the fun! If you are unable to attend a meeting, that’s ok. If knitting, bring #8 needles and yarn of any color. If crocheting, bring G or H hooks and Peaches & Cream cotton yarn of any color.
The Friends of the Library Bookshelf
Road trip ahead, or maybe just some armchair travel? The Bookshelf is featuring a large selection of travel books focused on nearby destinations in the South. In addition, we have a very nice group of National Geographic books on the US. Prefer your travel via fiction? We even have a book that can recommend a novel for you set in your destination of choice.
If you’re not already a Friend of the Library, please consider joining. Memberships start at only $10.00 and contribute to buying new books (including E-books) for the Gilmer Library’s collection. You’ll also enjoy the monthly newsletter, special events, and will be the first to know about the Bookshelf collections we put out each week.
Bookshelf hours are from 10:30-5:00 on weekdays and from noon-2:00 on Saturdays
