Mr. William Alexander “Alex” Roach, SR. age 89 of Ellijay died Thursday June 25, 2015. Mr. Roach was born July 9, 1925 in Chatham County the son of the late Alexander and Nannie Lou Tippins Roach. He was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years Ruth Roach and sons Walter Alexander Roach, Jr. and Andrew Allen Roach.

Mr. Roach attended college and served in the US Army in the Korean Conflict. He retired from the Coast Line Railroad where he worked as a Locomotive Engineer, later he started a second career as a Real Estate Broker/Appraiser. He was a member of the Solomon’s Lodge #1 F&AM in Savannah, Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Ellijay and Gideon’s International.

Survivors include a daughter, Katheryn R. Griner, Savannah, Ruth’s children: daughter, Darlene Strickland, son, Danny Boaen, niece, Laura Ludman, Yulee, FL, 2 grandsons, Chris and Kevin Roach.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday June 30,2015 at 11:00am from the chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with Rev. Edmund Miller and Rev. Dan Rosser officiating.

Interment will be Wednesday in Bonaventure Cemetery in Savannah.

The family will meet with friends Tuesday from 10 until 11:00am at the funeral home.
