Scottie (Scott) Edward Sanford: Obituary

Obituaries

Friday evening, October 24th, not only did Ellijay, Georgia lose a young man who oozed the very essence of compassion for animals that could not speak for themselves, but the world lost an extraordinarily talented and selfless servant leader.

Scottie (Scott) Edward Sanford devoted his entire life assisting people and animals to the very best of his abilities. Throughout his life he spent years as a dedicated Georgia Department of Human Resources case worker – assisting families and children; as a devoted, caring, and compassionate Registered Nurse; he owned one consulting business; and served as a tireless animal advocate in the role of President of Homeward Bound Pet Rescue.

An accomplished piano player, Christian, and long time member of The First Baptist Church, he previously loved world travel via tropical cruises.

Prior to the last year of his noble life, he placed his personal and professional life on hold caring for his precious mother’s needs as she fought a gallant battle with single cell carcinoma.

Being an exemplary example of exhibiting the very essence of compassion for all that he did, he spent the last year of his short existence fighting an unknown health issue with vigor, determination, and valor. Motivated by his partner and kids they shared, Porter, Tinkerbell, and Grace – all beautiful and loving little canines, he was compelled daily by love, loyalty, and compassion to endure the unexplainable and incomparable health issues the likes few have seen.

Scott was articulate, methodical, witty, intelligent, determined, hard-headed, caring, and loving. He walked to his own beat which was slow as his personal philosophy was that everything was a process. Never one to do anything quick, he would deliberately explore every aspect and option before making a decision.

A tribute to his legacy is that he did everything with compassion and diligence and always remained true to himself. He exuded so many admirable qualities rarely found in humanity and was an extraordinary young man.

Scott is preceded in death by mother, Janie Worley-Sanford, father Homer Sanford and is survived by his beloved partner, Allan Boyd, brother Michael Worley, life long friend Lisa Smith, close friend Debbie Delong, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Funeral Service will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday October 27th, 2015 from the Logan Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. David Drake officiating. Music and singing will be by Mrs. Christy Miller Williams. A graveside interment will follow in the Ellijay City Cemetery with Craig Smith, Max Evans, Mike Williams and Robert Mathews serving as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to Homeward Bound Pet Rescue at P.O. Box 792 Ellijay, GA 30540.

Scott you were very loved and your extraordinary legacy and compassion of servant leadership will not be forgotten.
