Mrs. Joan Burnette Godwin, age 76 of Ellijay, GA, died Saturday November 25, 2017,

Mrs. Godwin was born September 11, 1941, in Gilmer County the daughter of the late Mack and Ada Holland Burnette. She was a 1959 graduate of Gilmer High School Class of 1959 and worked as a claims processor for FEMA. Her parents and sibling’s Ouida Aldridge and Bud Burnette preceded her in death.

Survivors include: husband Charles Godwin, daughter and son-in-law: Tracy and Kenny Crook, Ellijay, brother and sister-in-law; Gary and Marsha Burnette, Ellijay. Sisters and brother-in-law: Maxine Charles, Ellijay, Sue and Pete Davis, Smyrna, grandchildren, Kirsten Marick, Jill and Austin Wright, Kaleb and Kacey Marick, Adam Crook, Katie Marick.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 2:00pm from the chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with Rev. Scotty Davis officiating. Interment will be in the Yukon cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 5 until 7:00pm at the funeral home.
