Bobcats Host Indians In Diamond Day Tournament

On Saturday, the Bobcats of Gilmer hosted the Lumpkin Co. Indians in game 1 of the Diamond Day Tournament at Gilmer High School. In the first game of the day the Bobcats started strong with the sticks plating 3 runs on 10 hits and 3 base on balls.
Bobcats held a 3-0 lead heading into the top of the 3rd when the Indians of Lumpkin Co. decided to start bringing their bats to the plate with them. The Indians plated 3 runs in the top of 3rd and 1 in the top of the 4th to take a 4-3 lead. The Bobcats would continue to hit the ball hard but couldn’t put anything together to fight back.

The Indians Defense stayed strong and held the Bobcats to just two hits from the fourth inning on. The Indians would add 1 more run in the 6th to make the score 5-3 in their favor and that would be the final score. The Bobcats had a strong finishing effort by #7 David Smith who worked 3 and 1/3 innings on the mound in relief.
The Bobcats next game will be at 5:00 where they will cleat up against the Warriors of White Co. in the final game of the Diamond Day Tournament.
