Gilmer County Swim Team Update
The Gilmer County swim team will be recently competed in the district swim meet and will compete in the Mountain League Championship and the state meet. Head coach, Larry Lykin, recently talked to FYN about his team’s preparation and season.

The Gilmer High School Lady Bobcats softball team recently hosted the Fannin County Lady Rebels. The Lady “Cats” fell to Fannin in the first game 12-7, but rebounded with an 8-0 victory. Starting pitcher Savannah Chalfant started the game and finished with 13 strikeouts.

The American Veterans Traveling Vietnam Wall was welcomed to Ellijay with an opening ceremony emceed my by Mark Simmons, during which Retired Senior Master Sergeant Sam Burrell (Air Force 66′-89) spoke of the faces, families, and memories that matched the names on the Wall. Attendees were also treated to a helicopter video.
