The Taxed Enough Already group’s event featured Terri Lynn Weaver, Representative from the 40th district in Tennessee, as the main speaker. The Congress woman, who is also an accomplished gospel singer, spoke to the crowd as well as entertained via song.

  • Bobcats Bruise Dragons

    The Gilmer High School Bobcats’ baseball team traveled down to Pickens to take on the Dragons of Pickens High School and thoroughly thrashed the home team with a 15-3 victory. The Bobcats had nine hits and two errors in the victory.

    Atlanta Hawks players Kirk Hinrich, Jason Collins and Pape Sy joined Atlanta Flames alumnus Dan Bouchard and staff volunteers from the Hawks, Thrashers, Philips Arena and The Home Depot for a tree mulching project in and around Vine City as part of the organization’s “Follow Our LEED” sustainability initiative.

    The Atlanta Braves today officially set their 25-man roster for opening day. Also, as part of an agreement with former pitcher Billy Wagner, the Braves today officially released Wagner in lieu of his placement on the Voluntary Retired List. In addition, outfielder Joe Mather cleared waivers and was sent outright to Gwinnett (AAA).
