As co-owner and manager of Ellijay’s Radio Shack store, Mark takes pride in being Ellijay’s go-to guy for electronic parts and products.Last week Mark was kind enough to show me around his store, which is located in The Shops at Village Crossing shopping center just off Highway 515 north of Yukon Road. The shop sells a wide variety of consumer electronic goods, including cell phone chargers, cords, batteries, and accessories, pre-paid cell phones, digital cameras and accessories, computers, computer accessories, toys, musical keyboards, and a range of GPS units.

So, what are the most popular items at Ellijay’s Radio Shack? Mark tells me they include police and fire radio scanners; the Gilmer community apparently likes to tune in to the goings-on of its local heroes.

As an ex-volunteer fireman, Mr. Bailey understands the excitement and appeal of emergency services, and reveals a good-natured sense of pride in looking back on the job. In fact, he even claims to have never lost a foundation in his entire career.

As Radio Shack is popular with local do-it-yourselfers and hobbyists, it also sells a great deal of electronic components. Need a wiring harness for your stereo or some heat shrink tubing for that power cord your dog’s been using as a chew toy? Mark will be happy to help you out.
