Mr. Cecil J. Evans age 86 of Ellijay died Monday February 11, 2013.

Mr. Evans was born on January 12, 1927 in Gilmer Co. He is the son of the late Lewis Evans and Belle Teague Evans. He was retired from Appalachian Southern Hardwood Corporation, a US Army Veteran having served during WWII and Korea. He was a member of the Clear Creek Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by brothers Truman, Coy, Roy & Farish Evans and sisters Ora Reece, Leola Evans & Maybelle Morton.

Survivors include: Wife of 65 years: Joyce Evans of the home; Son & daughter-in-law: Tommy & Robin Evans, Ellijay; Grandchildren & spouses: Jocelyn & Todd Gunter, Gray, TN, Cody & Chassidy Evans, Chatsworth, Cade Evans, Ellijay; Great grandchildren: Owen & Camden Gunter, Gray, TN; Special caregivers: Berdie Ramirez, Wally Williams and Hospice Advantage; Several nieces & nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Thursday February 14, 2013 at 2pm from the Clear Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Banks, Rev. Billy Dotson, Rev. Coy Richards & Chaplin Peter Smith officiating.

Interment will be held in the Clear Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Military Rites by the US Army.

The family will receive friends Wednesday February 13th from 2pm until 9pm at the Bernhardt Funeral Home.

The family request no food be brought to the funeral home.
