Mr. James “Jim” Luther Spillers, age 85 of Talking Rock, Georgia died on Wednesday, December 25, 2013, at his residence. He was born on September 25, 1928 in Macon, Georgia, he was the son of the late James Spillers and the late Lucy Lifsey Spillers. A honorably discharged Korean War Veteran Serving with the U.S. Army. Mr. Spillers was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and the Hotel and Motel Association.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Montine “Monty” Spillers of Ellijay, GA son and daughter-in-law, David and Samantha Spillers of Lula, GA, daughter and son-in-law, Lyndel Spillers and William Craig Pettis of Brooks, GA;grandchildren, Lee, Richard, and Destiny Spillers, Danielle Groshong, Chris, Nick, Lindsey and Morgan Pettis; 6 great grand children also survive.

A Military graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday December 27th, 2013 at the Georgia National Cemetery located at 1080 Veteran’s Cemetery Road Canton, Georgia 30114 with the Rev. Ruben Smith officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to the Cystic Fiibrosis Foundation at 6931 Arlington Road Suite 200 Bethesda, MD 20814 or to the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Building Fund at 115 Pleasant Grove Road Ellijay, GA 30540 in memory of Mr. Spiller.
