Day two of the ETC TV3 Tipoff Tournament saw two intriguing matchups between the boy’s and girl’s varsity squads of Fannin and Gilmer.The first game between the Lady Bobcats and the Lady Rebels saw plenty of action throughout. In a game that was full of scoring, a slow second quarter by Fannin allowed Gilmer to surge into halftime with a comfortable 19-12 lead.

Fannin cut Gilmer’s lead to five in the third quarter, but the Lady Bobcats got on a roll in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Lady Rebels 11-2 to win the game by a score of 34-20. Bailey Charles led Gilmer in scoring with nine points. Britton Farlow and Brittany Lowman led the team in rebound with five each.

Immediately after the girl’s game was the boy’s, a matchup that would quickly prove to be a walk in the park for one of the teams involved. The Bobcats, fueled by nice preformances by Joe Bob Charles and Ryan Lowery, came out of the gates with the momentum and never looked back, outscoring the Rebels 24-12 in the first half and ultimately winning the game 51-25.

Charles and Lowery finished the game as Gilmer’s leading scorers with thirteen points each. Drew Parks led the team with five rebounds.

The Bobcats and the Lady Bobcats will face off with the Cougars and Lady Cougars of Copper Basin in today’s final set of games in the tournament.
