V. Louise Fendley : Obituary

Obituaries

V. Louise Fendley was born June 21, 1926 and died February 2, 2014. She grew up in Ellijay, Georgia, the daughter of Frank and Annie Wright. She graduated from Gilmer County High School and moved to Atlanta. After World War II, she married the love of her life, Glen Fendley. They had two daughters – Glenette and Gail.

Louise worked for many years at Phenix Supply Company, first as a bookkeeper, and later as their computer guru. She sang alto in the choir at Adair Park Baptist Church, and was a member of several charitable and social organizations. She loved the color orange, in spite of her red hair and never passed up a bargain when shopping. She believed in being on time, doing what she said she would do, and making up the bed every morning.

After her beloved husband Glen died too soon, she found a second career at Andy’s Jewelry in Ellijay, and growing her beautiful flowers. Louise loved to travel with her best friend, Brenda Richards, and with her sister and brother in-law, Dotty and Carver Hunt.

She was a dedicated member of Clear Creek Baptist Church and choir, and loved being the red headed angel in the annual nativity. Recently she told her daughters that she had seen everything she wanted to see, and done everything she wanted to do.

Glenette and Gail would ask all of her family and friends to help them celebrate her long life and to remember that now, to paraphrase her favorite song “Some call it Heaven, but she calls it home.”

Louise is survived by daughter Gail Fendley and son in-law Scott Tiemeyer; daughter Glenette Fendley and son in-law Kelly McCollum; granddaughter Amanda Vliek and her husband Michael Vliek; and greatgrand children Madeline Chalker, Makenzie Vliek and Gabrial Vliek; plus many adored nieces and nephews and their families.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday February 6th at 2pm from the Clear Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Dotson and Rev. Coy Richards officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday February 5th from 4pm until 9pm at the Bernhardt Funeral Home.

Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to the Clear Creek Baptist Church % Brent Sanford at 187 Bible Baptist Road Ellijay, GA 30540 or Wellstar Community Hospice at 2000 South Park Place Suite 202 Atlanta, GA 30339 in Memory of Mrs. Fendley.

The family request no food be brought to the funeral home.
