Lap-Sit Storytime – Valentine

Lap-Sit story time is a fun and personalized way to encourage early literacy by including books, songs, rhymes, and physical activity for ages 1 to 3 years with a participating adult.

Lego Club

Legos are just cool. Join us for another meeting of the Gilmer County Library’s Lego Club. We provide the theme and the Legos. You provide the imagination. Bring your children to come have some fun and create something brilliant, and we will proudly display their creations.

My First Book Club
Monday, February 16 @ 4:00 PM
Children grades 2nd thru 5th and their parents are invited to join us once a month for a beginning level book club. We read a new book every month. Call the library to ask if we still have copies of this month’s book.
Weekday Storytime – Jungle Safari

It is almost Valentine’s Day so come and listen to Mrs. Judy as she tells the story of the sweet Candy Hearts. Right after the story, we always have craft time. All ages are welcome. Children under 9 require a responsible adult.

Puppet Show – Little Red Hen

Bring the children and come see what important lesson is taught by the Little Red Hen. We always have a simple craft following our puppet shows. All ages are invited to attend. 9 and under must be accompanied by an adult

It’s a teacher’s workday so there’s no school today. Dress up like your favorite character. Come join us at the library to enjoy a free movie and popcorn.

The Monthly Movie – Ms. Potter

Enjoy the story of Beatrix Potter, the author of the beloved and best-selling children’s book, “The Tale of Peter Rabbit”, and her struggle for love, happiness and success. Light refreshments will be available.

Adult Lunch and Learn Knitting & Crocheting

Bring your brown bag lunch, needles and yarn to the Gilmer County Library. Already know how to knit, come for the fun! If you are unable to attend a meeting, that’s ok. You don’t have to be at every class. If knitting, bring #8 needles and yarn of any color. If crocheting, bring G or H hooks and Peaches & Cream cotton yarn of any color.

The Friends of the Library Bookshelf

Chocolate. Steak. Chocolate. Shrimp. Chocolate. Homemade bread. Chocolate. Special treats for Valentine’s? We have the recipes for you in a lovely new collection of recent cookbooks. Low fat or lavish, we’ve got you covered, and at irresistible prices in the Bookshelf.
Remember that the library welcomes donations of gently read books and magazines. Those that the library doesn’t need come to the Bookshelf, with all the proceeds benefiting the library. Don’t forget to visit the “back room” of the Bookshelf for newly stocked non-fiction and magazines.

Bookshelf hours are from 10:30 AM-5:00 PM on weekdays and from 12:00 PM-2:00 PM on Saturdays.
