Lap-Sit Storytime – Bouncing Babies

Lap-Sit story time is a fun and personalized way to encourage early literacy by including books, songs, rhymes, and physical activity for ages 1 to 3 years with a participating adult.

Family Storytime – Busy Boats
Saturday, March 7 @ 10:30 AM
Saturday story times are designed for families with children of all ages. Children must be accompanied by a participating adult. These programs often feature stories, music, rhymes and a free craft activity.

Weekday Storytime – Gone Fishing
Tuesday, March 10 @ 10:30 AM
Spring is coming, and the fish are biting. Come and listen to Mrs. Judy as she tells the story of the folks Gone Fishing. Right after the story, we always have craft time. All ages are welcome. Children under 9 require a responsible adult.

Teen Book Club
Tuesday, March 10 @ 4:00 PM
Don’t judge a book by its cover. Join us as we watch the movie, Divergent based on the book by Veronica Roth and then discuss the differences between the movie and the book – ages 12 years and up.

Master Gardeners Program – Container Gardening

The Gilmer County Master Gardener Spring Series continues with a program about container gardening. Learn how to grow veggies on a deck or patio, in pots and planters, to keep them close by and handy!
Basic Computer Skills
Wednesday, March 11 @ 10:00 AM
This Spring, the Gilmer County Library will be having a free computer class series. We will start with a basic skills class for any novice and follows the next week with a lab for questions and practice. It is never too late for anyone to learn how to use a computer! Come in or call to register for the class. Requirements: a library card and a desire to learn

Adult Lunch and Learn Knitting & Crocheting
Wednesday, March 11 @ 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM
Bring your brown bag lunch, needles and yarn to the Gilmer County Library. Already know how to knit, come for the fun! If you are unable to attend a meeting, that’s ok. If knitting, bring #8 needles and yarn of any color. If crocheting, bring G or H hooks and Peaches & Cream cotton yarn of any color.

Monthly Movie
Thursday, March 12 @ 5:30 PM
A 2007 historical biopic stars Anne Hathaway as the title character. The British film is partly based on the 2003 book, Becoming Jane Austen. James McAvoy costars in the movie as Jane Austen’s love and regret, Thomas Langlois Lefroy.

The Friends of the Library Bookshelf

Back by snowy day demand: a wonderful collection of interesting hardback non-fiction books for children, priced at $.25 – $1.00. Pick up a few to have on hand for grandkids or car trips, or just for reading fun.

Take a look at the “Last Chance” shelves where our inventory of half-priced books is refreshed weekly. You can put your payment for these books in the donations box if the Bookshelf is closed.

Bookshelf hours are from 10:30 AM-5:00 PM on weekdays and from 12:00 PM-2:00 PM on Saturdays.
