The Craddock Center, founded in 2001 by Fred and Nettie Craddock, is a nonprofit based in Cherry Log, Georgia. Its mission is to deliver educational and cultural programs to children, families, and communities, primarily in southern Appalachia. Programs include the Children’s Enrichment Program, which fills Head Start and pre-K classrooms weekly with story and song; the Story Express, a custom book mobile that travels regularly to schools and places where children gather to deliver “happy & hope” through free books; and Camp Craddock, a free, week-long children’s summer camp that takes place in the backyards of children from low income neighborhoods.
