Bobcats Get First Win in Third Annual GHS Vs Pickens Alumni Game

Featured Stories, Team FYN Sports

The Gilmer Pickens Alumni Game kicked off with the home team, Bobcats, pulling out the 8-0 victory. It was the first time that the Bobcats won the Alumni game, as the Dragons won the first two. Recent graduate, Johnie Flakes scored the first, and only, touchdown of the game in the second quarter. Quarterback, Rodney Patton, scored on a keeper for the two point conversion, with a couple of “Ricky Bobby” shake and bake spin moves to get into the end zone.
The defense, led by Eric “Lattimore” Sanford, Drew Morgan, and Cameron Kephart, kept the Dragons out of the end zone all night. Kephart came up with a big interception and two long pass receptions, including one late on 3rd and forever that allowed the Bobcat to take the “victory” knee formation. Morgan had a big momentum swinging fumble recovery on the Gilmer six that helped secure the shut out.
