Mrs. Sara “Sally” Frances Charles Davis of Ellijay, Georgia, age 79, passed from this life on Friday, May 8th, 2015. She was born on October 2nd, 1936 in Ellijay, Gilmer County Georgia to her late parents Joseph Burdine and Sarah Bernice Parks Charles. She was a member of Clear Creek Baptist Church. Mrs. Davis graduated Gilmer High School in the Class of 1955. She was the first female Chairman of the Gilmer County Board of Education, Secretary to Office of Curriculum Director, and she was also the Mountaintown Voting Precinct Director and a practical nurse at Watkins Memorial Hospital.

She is preceded in death by sister Mary Lou Charles Gibson and brother Joseph L. Charles.

Survivors include husband of 60 years, Victor Eugene Davis of the home in Ellijay; daughter and son-in-law Vicki and Ty Bishop of Cleveland, Georgia; grandchildren Sarah Ember Bishop of Atlanta, Tyrone Bishop of Cleveland, Georgia; brother Larry H. Charles of Wiggins, Mississippi; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral service will take place at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, May 10th, 2015 from the Logan Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Edmund Miller officiating, music by Donna Easterwood. Graveside interment service will follow in the Nine Mile Methodist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Al Charles, Tim McArthur, T.J. McArthur, Jason Benton, Bill Jackson and Ramiro Bandares.
