Lost Resolution

Community

Have you seen my Resolution? I can’t find it anywhere! I had it in plain sight on New Year’s Day and now it’s missing. Pretty doubtful it was stolen as most folks have their own. The beginning of the year is oh such an exciting time. Everything is new and shiny – perfect time to fix or change what we perceive needs to be fixed and changed. I made my usual list, you know the kind, eat healthier, get in better shape, and get organized, read more, less TV. But as I was lying on the couch watching football this week-end I realized it is mid January and I haven’t seen my list. Someone must have stolen my list. Perhaps my other personality took it, the one that loves lying on the couch watching football.

So I ask myself, what person in their right mind would miss the playoffs? Myself said “no one” and instantly I felt less concerned about the whereabouts of my list. Now Monday has rolled around as Mondays are prone to do and once again, in the back of my mind, lurks that list. So a new list evolved, a less demanding version of the over ambitious one that tried to rear its ugly head and make me feel bad.

I can manage my new revised list because now I am just aiming to make better choices –one choice at a time. I had a good breakfast and even exercised this morning. A good friend once told me “I cannot do anything that takes an hour, but I can do something that takes 15 minutes-four times!” Our lives are moments that turn into hours, then days and years. Just live every moment, enjoy now, and instead of focusing on everything you think you need to change just make a good choice today.
