Franklin “Lin” Parks, age 92 of the Boardtown Community, Ellijay, Ga. passed from this life on Sunday evening, November 6th, 2011 from the North Ga. Medical Center. He was a member and Deacon of Salem Baptist Church for over 80 years. Born August 14th, 1919 in Ellijay, Ga. to his late parents Grover Cleveland and Rebecca Jones Parks. He was named farmer of the year by the F.F.A.

Flowers are being accepted or donations may be made to Salem Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Gary Hyde, 187 N. Jones Mill Rd., Ellijay, Ga. 30540.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday November 9th, 2011 at Salem Baptist Church with Rev. Jamie Kerr, Rev. Bryan Hensley, Rev. Sam May, Rev. Chris Chastain officiating and vocals by the Salem Baptist Church Choir. Interment service will follow in the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Michael Reed, Joey Reed, Jeremy Parks, Ryan Parks, Ty Hager, Tracy Moye, Dillion Reed and Dennie Hager.

Survivors include wife of 71 years, Millie Oneta Sluder Parks of the home in Ellijay; daughter Linda Parks Reed of Ellijay, Ga.; sons and daughters-in-law: Monroe Parks of Ellijay, James and Shirley Parks of Peachtree City, Ga., Keith Parks of Ellijay, Ga; seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; sister Jean Parks Waters of Ellijay; brothers Burley and Bill Parks of Ellijay; several nieces and nephews.
