Rev. Verlin R. Hughes age 95 of Ragweed Lane, Ellijay died Friday Dec. 2, 2011.

Rev. Hughes was born May 3,1916 in Fannin County the son of the late Emory C. and Mary Jane Beavers Hughes. He was preceded in death by his wife: Mamie Raper. He was retired from the textile industry, was a member of the Riverhill Baptist Church and was ordained as Baptist Minister in 1944. Over the years he was pastor of several churches in the local area.

Survivors include: sons and daughters-in-law: James Kenneth and Mary Hughes, Oxford, Curtis Hughes, Ellijay, daughters and sons-in-law: Mary Helen and Lloyd Stover, Ellijay, Louise and Gene Raynor, Bolder City, NV. Brother: Homer Hughes, Blue Ridge. 9 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday December 8,2011 at 2:00pm from the Riverhill Baptst Church with Rev. Billy Cantrell, Rev. Wallace Parks officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

The family will meet with friends Wednesday Dec. 7 from 4:00 until 9pm at he funeral home.
