Clear Creek Clears Competition Wins State Dual Championship

The Clear Creek Middle School Bobcats wrestling team won the overall state championship, with a 63-12 dismantling of South Paulding. The Clear Creek “Cats” were clearly the kings of the mat, at the state middle school duals.The Bobcats beat South Effingham 72-12, with nine pins/forfeits, two techs, and two major victories. Clear Creek beat Lumpkin County 67-12, with nine pins/forfeits, two techs, and a minor victory. The only team not to lose by double digits, to Clear Creek was Jefferson, who fell 41-36.
Jefferson was up, 36-26, before Dillan Sanford’s tech, Luis Bautista’s win by forfeit, and Enrique Jacinto’s pin, secured the win for the Bobcats.
The Bobcats secured the over all title with nine pins/forfeits, two techs and a minor victory. Clear Creek lost only three matches to South Paulding.
Clear Creek lost only a total of 15 matches during the tournament, out 60. Jefferson accounted for six of those losses.
