Charlie Paris Announces Candidacy for Tax Commissioner

My name is Charlie Paris, and today I am announcing my candidacy for Gilmer County Tax Commissioner. I am a Conservative Republican and a lifetime resident of North Georgia. I have been married to my wife, Barbara, for 33 years and we have 4 children and 4 grandchildren.I have an A.S. degree with honors from Kennesaw State College (now KSU), with additional studies in Computer Programming, Operating Systems, Data Structure, and Management, from Kennesaw State College, Oglethorpe University, AT&T Education Center and Hewlett Packard Education Center.
I’ve held managerial assignments with AT&T in the Commercial, Plant, Marketing, Accounting, Engineering, and IT Departments. As Senior Engineer, I was responsible for software engineering applications used nationally, and when I retired, as Senior Member of Technical Staff, I was leading a team responsible for computer resources serving 20,000 employees nationwide. During this time, I effectively managed people, budgets, and resources.

After my time with AT&T, I was a successful consultant specializing in Unix/Linux Administration, Disaster Recovery, and Data Center Administration. While self-employed, I enhanced my resource management and customer service skills, and developed a serious aversion to governmental bureaucracy and regulations.

I believe that I have the private sector experience that will allow me to take the Tax Commissioner’s Office to a better managed and more responsive level. Most importantly, I will ensure that there is accountability to the citizens of Gilmer County.

I know that dealing with the Tax Commissioner’s office is not on anyone’s list of “things I want to do today”, and will ensure that everything possible is done to allow you to conduct your business quickly and efficiently – in a friendly and professional environment – where you are treated respectfully. Further, I will always be completely honest with you, and communicate regularly on office status.

I believe that I am the best candidate for Tax Commissioner, but I know that I’m not the best known candidate. I hope you will take the time to check my background and qualifications at www.charlieparis.com. There, you can learn more about me than you ever wanted to know – and if you still have questions, there will be email and telephone contact information so that you can contact me directly. Your vote and support will be very greatly appreciated. I don’t just want to be your Tax Commissioner. I want to be the best Tax Commissioner you’ve ever had.
