B. ALISON SOSEBEE ANNOUNCES CANDIDACY FOR DISTRICT ATTORNEY

B. Alison Sosebee announces her candidacy as a Republican for the office of District Attorney for the Appalachian Judicial Circuit. The Appalachian Judicial Circuit encompasses the counties of Fannin, Gilmer and Pickens.
Sosebee is a lifelong resident of Fannin County and she is the mother of two sons, Nathaniel Maloof and Grahym Maloof. She is the daughter of Robert L. Sosebee, Sr., the general manager of Tri-State Electric Cooperative for several years, and Barbara Payne Sosebee.

Sosebee graduated from Fannin County High School in 1995 and attended the University of Georgia for her undergraduate education. During this time, Sosebee served as legislative aide to then State Senator and current Speaker of the House of Representatives, David E. Ralston, in the Georgia General Assembly. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in political science, with honors, Sosebee attended the University of Georgia School of Law.

Upon graduating from the University of Georgia School of Law in 2001, Sosebee was employed as law clerk in Appalachian Judicial Circuit for Chief Judge Brenda S. Weaver and Judge Roger E. Bradley. In 2002, Sosebee entered the private practice of law with attorney George W. Weaver. In 2006, after the birth of her first child, Sosebee returned to her home town and opened her law office in Blue Ridge.

In private practice, Sosebee’s focus has primarily been criminal defense, civil litigation and family law. In addition, during her career, Sosebee has served as Prosecutor, Public Defender and Judge Pro Tem in the City of Ellijay; City Attorney for the City of East Ellijay; City Attorney for the City of McCaysville and Prosecutor in the McCaysville City Court. Sosebee has also served as Juvenile Court Judge Pro Tem for the Appalachian Judicial Circuit.

Sosebee states as District Attorney she will utilize all resources available including state, county and municipal law enforcement agencies and the Appalachian Judicial Circuit’s drug court, veteran’s court and mental health court programs in order to better serve the citizens of Fannin, Gilmer and Pickens counties. Furthermore, Sosebee states that

“in addition to looking at the resources available, in determining how to proceed in a case as District Attorney, I will evaluate each case on its merits and this determination will be made without bias or prejudice toward any person.”

Sosebee states,

“Electing a new District Attorney is vital for the Appalachian Judicial Circuit. I pledge to serve the people of Fannin, Gilmer and Pickens counties with fairness, efficiency and integrity.
