Mrs. Mary Guess Lanning age 87 of East Ellijay died Sunday June 10, 2012.

Mrs. Lanning was born on September 15, 1924 in Gilmer Co. She is the daughter of the late Columbus Guess and Ina Sluder Guess. She worked in the textile industry and was a member of the East Ellijay Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband Joe Lanning, sisters Faris Tipton & Christine Crider, brothers Thomas & Wade Guess & son-in-law Frank Gibson.

Survivors include: Sons & daughters-in-law: Bobby & Bobbie Lanning, Ellijay, David & Gail Lanning, Ellijay, Danny Lanning of the home; Daughters: Glenda Gibson, Ellijay, Brenda Cochran, Cartersville, GA; 11 Grandchildren; 11 Great grandchildren; Sisters: Dimple Dale, Ellijay, Eula Ingle, Dalton; Several nieces & nephews also survive.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday June 12, 2012 at 2pm from the Turniptown Baptist Church with Rev. Leon Pettit officiating.

Interment will follow in the East Ellijay Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday June 11th from 4pm until 9pm at the Bernhardt Funeral Home.
