Sen. Steve Gooch Receives A+ Rating from the Center For an Educated Georgia

ATLANTA (August 29, 2012) – Sen. Steve Gooch (R-Dahlonega) received an A+ Rating on the Center for an Educated Georgia’s Legislative Report Card.The center is a part of the Georgia Family Council, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting educational advocacy and research. This distinction was awarded to lawmakers who continually demonstrate an unwavering commitment to advancing education reform at the state capitol. Senator Gooch was one of 25 Senators who received an A+ rating.

“As a state senator, one of my main priorities is to support initiatives that improve the overall effectiveness of Georgia’s education system,”

said Sen. Gooch.

“I look forward to continue working with the legislature and interested stakeholders to provide students with the resources they need to compete in today’s knowledge-based workforce.”

The Center for Educated Georgia’s Report Card lists current legislators’ votes on major education legislation since 2007 in three areas – private school choice, public charter schools, and public school reform. According to these votes, legislators were assigned a grade in each category and accessed a final letter grade equivalent between A+ and F. Sen. Gooch also recently received an A+ Rating from the American Conservative Union and Americans for Prosperity.
