Ellijay/Gilmer County Designated an Appalachian Trail Community

Ellijay/Gilmer County, was designated as an Appalachian Trail Community Today.Ellijay/Gilmer County, was designated as an Appalachian Trail Community today during a ceremony held at the Gilmer County Chamber of Commerce. The designation was given by The Appalachian Trail Conservancy (ATC). The Appalachian Trail Community is a new program of the ATC, the nonprofit responsible for management and protection of the Appalachian Trail. Launched in 2010, this program recognizes and thanks communities for their part in the Appalachian Trail as an important and local national asset.
