Gilmer Picks Up Win at Pickens “Pink Out”

The Gilmer High School Lady Bobcats volleyball team traveled to Pickens High School to take on the Dragonettes in the annual “Pink Out” cancer awareness game. The Lady “Cats” were able to squeeze out a 2-1 victory after falling in the first game.The home team “Nettes” came out hot in the first game, jumping out to a 15-4 lead. Gilmer would fall 25-20.

The Lady “Cats” clawed out a 9-0 lead in game two; however, the Dragonettes went on a 15-7 run that pulled Pickens within one, 16-15, and resulted in a time out from Gilmer head coach, Donna Parks.

Gilmer responded with an 8-6 run that put the “Lady Cats” within reach of the game winning point, with a three point lead. Gilmer eventually won the game 25-23.

Game three was a back and forth affair that was not decided until a 8-1 Gilmer run at the end sealed the 25-17 win, and secured the 2-1 win for the Lady “Cats.”
