Shelba Charlene Mulkey : Obituary

Mrs. Shelba Charlene Mulkey age 68 of Ellijay died peacefully at home, after a lengthy illness on November 29, 2012.

Shelba was the only daughter of the late Ensley and Vera Nealey of Ellijay, born on October 24, 1944 in Gilmer County and was preceded in death by her daughter Lisa Mulkey Batten on February 13, 1995. Shelba graduated from Gilmer High School in 1963 and worked at B&R Builders in Ellijay, which was founded by her husband, Ruel and father-in-law Buford Mulkey in 1967. She was a lifelong resident of Gilmer County enjoying many friends and family in the community and was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include: husband: Ruel Mulkey; grandson: Jonathan Batten, of the home; brother: James Nealey, Davisboro, GA; aunt: Velma Nealey, Ellijay; brother-in-law: Charles and Carol Mulkey, Ellijay; sister-in-law: Wanda and Dave Dagraedt; nieces and spouses: Cynthia and Stacey Nicholson, Shelley and Jason Martin; nephews and spouse: Matthew Mulkey, Ryan and Gretchen Garrett, all of Ellijay.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 2, 2012 at 1:00 pm from the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, with welcome by Rev. Rubin Smith, Rev. Edmond Miller and Rev. Harold McCord will officiate. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

Family will receive friends Saturday, December 1st from 5 pm until 9 pm at the Bernhardt Funeral Home.
