Last week, FYN reported that Pickens County CFO Faye Harvey tentatively resigned from her position with the county after three months. We also reported Gilmer County Commission Chairman J.C. Sanford confirmed that Harvey has expressed an interest to return to her former position as Gilmer County CFO. Doubtless, both reports are tentative and not yet set in stone. On December 20th, FYN emailed Mrs. Harvey asking for a response to her resignation. She has yet to respond to the request.
Following the publication of the two above stated reports, Pickens County Sole Commissioner Robert Jones explained the nuances of the situation. He explained that Harvey submitted her resignation last Thursday, but requested time to study her position. In an email to FYN this week, Jones said, however, he is prepared to post the CFO position in the legal organ and with the Department of Labor if Harvey chooses to resign.
Jones said he expects to hear a definite answer from Harvey by Monday.
