After an executive session last Thursday, the Gilmer County Board of Commissions clarified its county policy relating to insurance coverage of county officials.Gilmer County Commission Chair JC Sanford told FYN that the session was held only to clarify the fact that elected officials such as coroners and post commissioners are able to receive county health insurance coverage.
The clarification was necessary because Gilmer County policy also states that part-time employees are not allowed to receive this kind of coverage, and the county didn’t want any type of confusion.
“It’s a continuation of what we’ve been doing,”
said Commission Chairman Sanford.
Sanford added that the change was both done legally and technically.
