Our speaker for the Gilmer Rotary Club April 15th meeting was Robert Flesher. Robert is in charge of the Gilmer County dive team and reports to Tony Pritchett, Gilmer County’s Fire Chief.
There is an average of 1 drowning in Carters Lake each year. The dive team now has 8, highly trained public safety divers and an excellent, former Cost Guard boat, with very sophisticated sonar.
Mr. Flesher stated
“our dive team is currently operating with recreational equipment and strongly needs the funds to purchase highly technical gear.”
Robert was a very interesting speaker and fielded numerous questions from our members.
