The Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office Explorer Post 442 held a drawing on Monday April 29th at the Gilmer County Courthouse for a raffle they held as a fundraiser.Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office had FYN CEO Brian K. Pritchard draw for the winning raffle winners on Monday at 6 p.m. outside the Gilmer Courthouse. The raffle tickets were sold to raise funds for the GCSO Explorer program. Everyone enjoyed hotdogs and chips plus a delicious cake with a picture of the Explorer group. First place prize was a Mossberg 22 Rifle going to the lucky winner, Larry Watkins. Other prizes drawn were for a BB gun and a $50 cash prize. The Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office had vehicles present for everyone to check out and Rico the Police K9 also made an appearance!
Josh Chancey, GCSO Deputy spoke to FYN about the Explorer Program and explained to FYN that it is where kids can learn about the Sheriff’s office and what it’s like to be an officer if they are interested in perhaps choosing this career path. Participants should know that the ages eligible for the program are
